I have over 12 years of experience counseling children, adolescents, families and groups, both in the US and the UK. I am British and after being educated at Oxford University I worked in various professions before coming to New York to further my education and continue my therapy practice. My philosophy is that we all have the potential to improve our lives. With collaboration and support my clients develop strengths to help overcome difficult and stressful thoughts and feelings and to achieve meaningful and lasting change.
My particular expertise is working with those who are experiencing the effects of loss, including those living with depression or anxiety.
My office is very conveniently located close to Union Square. I offer weekday early morning, daytime and evening appointments. Please feel free to contact me to schedule an initial consultation.
Dr. Charlotte McCullagh
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, PhD, LMSW
My aim for our therapeutic relationship is to build a safety, but not a sense of complacency. You have already decided to make a change, let’s consciously pursue that. I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach that borrows from cognitive-behavioral, narrative and psychodynamic techniques.
I have institute training in LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy and sex therapy. I have worked with individuals and couples. My PhD training and dissertation focused on psychosocial based interventions for folks living with HIV/AIDS. Additionally, I am an adjunct professor at Columbia and NYU.
